Fabrizio Rota: Fuori Luogo
"I had been in a place, I had been... there something has
passed while I was walking through that particular time with my
special time trap (a microphone).
Fuori Luogo is a collection of found sound objects which are arranged
to compose an invisible open plot. Collected sound become the material
for an improvised performance in the form of a concert. This is
the first chapter of this collection. It is the result of a residency
in the ancient village of Bussana Vecchia close to the Mediterranean
coast of Liguria (Italy).
'Fuori luogo' means 'out of context' but literally 'out of place.'
I'm actualizing a range of possibilities derived from technological
set-up: the making of instruments as part of creative and compositional
process. The composition relates with the openness of the programmed
'set-ups' and their abilities to react to my movements (physical,
emotional, intellectual...)."
The Logos <M&M> robot orchestra with dancers, performers
and musicians: Dominica Eyckmans, Moniek Darge, Sebastian Bradt, Xavier
Verhelst, Helen White, Zam Ebale and Kristof Lauwers, directed by
Godfried-Willem Raes.
It's no exaggeration to say that Robin Hayward, tuba-player extraordinaire,
has redefined his instrument. His microtonal tuba can play every
conceivable pitch in the instrument's five octave range. The premiere
of his new piece for microtonal tuba and live electronics is especially
for us at Logos - weeks before he hits the Festival van Vlaanderen
and TRANSIT, of course ;-)
Blind System, toe.

Mangalam!
The young Ghent trio Mangalam! (Anne Davids: flute, Yann Lecollaire: saxophone, Charlotte Otte: piano) are fascinated by new sound colours in contemporary repertoire for flute, piano and bass clarinet. They promise a fresh, cheerful alternative to a grey winter evening.
This young ensemble focuses on work by experimental composers and
sound artists. Their playground is music that leaves considerable
artistic and instrumental freedom to the musicians. Music by George
Crumb, Frederic Pattar and Jérôme Combier is on the programme for
Logos.
Voice artist and cellist Audrey Chen takes on drummer Luca Marini. A musical adventure into the darker regions of the vocal cords, strings and drumskins.
"I am attempting to make an example of why I can only approximate the languages I speak ... one and a half bona fide and the rest entirely subject to hunger, temperature, humidity, cello, voice, electronics on occasion, live performance and antics, cardboard spaceship shields, underwater mumbling, body/sound installations, ... sometimes just me, sometimes with others. Enjoy." - Audrey Chen

M&M orchestra: Solstice
For the 1985 winter solstice, Logos created a soundscape from the bells of Ghent
that was broadcast all over the world. This year's project with
the M&M robot orchestra is still a bit of a secret. But we can
promise a show full of light, dance and musical surprises that makes
the longest night of the year pass in an instant. There will be
pieces by Phill Niblock, a ephemerid-based new composition by Kristof
Lauwers, Namuda Study #20 by Godfried-Willem Raes -a dance production-,
a new piece by Sebastian Bradt and a reworked piece by Moniek Darge
with performance by Helen White. So, the complete automaton orchestra
