CALL FOR PROPOSALS TO WORK IN RESIDENCY WITH THE LOGOS ROBOT
ORCHESTRA
In the past the Logos Foundation in Ghent, Flanders,
has organised monthly concerts devoted to new compositions written
for their musical robots. The Logos Foundation is an advanced production
centre for new experimental music and audio arts and we wish to
give composers the opportunity to develop new works for the robot
orchestra including the variety of human interfaces available at
Logos.
Composers ought to have experience in the use of
professional sequencing software or programming, if interactive
projects are under consideration. We have a preference for composers
using the Windows platform, as this is the platform in use at Logos.
Proposals involving a dance soloist can eventually be considered.
In this case, include a desciption of the choreography. We have
a cast of experienced Namuda dancers available. Proposals involving
interactivity with instrumental musicians are acceptable as well.
Composers from all over the world are invited to send proposals.
Terms and conditions:
- Composers must familiarize themselves with the
user manual for our orchestra.
- A jury at Logos will evaluate the proposals. Criteria are related
to technical feasability, stylistic innovation and originality.
- Logos does not provide funding for the cost of travelling or
food. However we can provide basic accommodation at a nominal
cost and we will support your applications for outside funding
with letters of invitation.
- Professional recording equipment is available so that composers
can record, document and distribute their work.
