"the symbolic implications of smetryn's 'fade out'
are not clear at first examination,
but a steady progression toward a mysterious end is there.
The composer/artist sees the beginning and end as arbitrary
and one should imagine as if the drone-like line could go on forever.
The resonances of each instrument within the score
add the peculiar feeling of unease,
as if we the listeners (and the viewers)
lose contact from our own reality "
