Logos Documentation Center


Het Logos informatiecentrum is, in tegenstelling tot het archief dat op de eerste plaats gericht is op dokumentatie en klassifikatie, te beschouwen als onze deur naar de wereld van de echte muziekliefhebber met meer dan eenmalige luisterbelangstelling. Archiefstukken (van opnames tot en met gedrukte publikaties) worden door ons nooit ontleend, maar kunnen ten allen tijde worden gekonsulteerd. Daarnaast echter bieden we het publiek van het recent verschenen CD-materiaal en van recente relevante publikaties steeds een strenge selektie te koop aan in onze 'shop'. Wat zowat overal onvindbaar is en toch interessant, kunt U dan ook met een grote graad aan waarschijnlijkheid in de Logos infoshop aantreffen en kopen. De shop kan overigens ook bogen op enkele institutionele klanten (openbare mediatheken) die ons hun vertrouwen schonken om voor hen een voor het experimentele muziekleven belangwekkende kollektie aan te leggen. Belangstellenden die niet over de middelen beschikken zich zelf een kollektie aan te schaffen, kunnen we dan ook vaak doorverwijzen naar een mediatheek waar wij het gewenste item konden plaatsen. Daarenboven is zo de efficientie van de informatieverspreiding meteen ook vergroot. In ons informatiecentrum kan men meer dan alleen maar opzoeken. Logos beschikt over de mogelijkheid het publiek ter plekke opnames te laten beluisteren, partituren en boeken in te kijken, en zelfs op het internet te surfen naar sites die relevant zijn voor de hedendaagse muziek. Tot de 'sukses'-nummers van het Logos informatiecentrum behoort ook onze technische en muziekwetenschappelijke bibliotheek. Nergens elders treft U immers zoveel boeken aan rond experimentele instrumentenbouw en organologie, rond akoestiek en audioperceptie, rond algoritmische kompositietechnieken, rond sensoren en interfacetechnieken. Bovendien hebben we ook de nodige experts in huis om het publiek in deze gespecialiseerde materie wegwijs te helpen. Het hoeft dan ook niemand te verwonderen dat reeds menig melomaan, "professional", muziekstudent en dergelijke meer, hun weg hebben gevonden tot bij Logos in Gent. Het voorhanden zijn van heel wat info via onze uitgebreide website draagt daar uiteraard ook in ruime mate toe bij..
